The resilient and sturdy mangrove offers natural coastline protection from erosion. It also affords sea life a place to live, feed, and escape. 

Because Florida is home to incredible land and ocean-scapes, we felt compelled to find a way to sustain and restore by creating a lifestyle that respects both. Like the mangrove, we are rooted in the local soil and connected by the ocean to the rest of the globe. We want our legacy to be about both the earth and ocean.

From the mangrove and coastal protection, we began to think about how coastal and inland communities could be sustainable. Possibly neighborhoods could even become regenerative, given the right tools, resources, and people with a plan.

Initially, we chose to focus on the idea of growing food using a method that has existed for 1000’s of years. Small farm plots on the water. We call it our OPod or Ocean Garden Pod. You can read more about it here. 

In the process of solving the infrastructure needs for a community that would need coastal protection, food, water, and power; we discovered we were really designing sustainable communities. Communities that could work inland and on the coast; nearly anywhere on the globe. Even on islands, or floating near land.

To move forward with our vision, we’ve decided to build a sustainable community. A place to call home that embraces innovation, technology, nature, people, and the planet from the start.
